You Dont Have to Write That Novel
You Dont Have to Write That Novel Its November, so that means its NaNoWriMo season. A lot of people are deep into their 50,000-word challenge as youre reading this; some people are on target, some are ahead of their goal, and some are scrambling to make up missed word counts. Almost everyone has drunk their weight in coffee by this point. The idea behind NaNoWriMo is that anybody can write a novel. Its only 1667 words a day for 30 days. Its not a cakewalk but its doable, right? Well. Not necessarily. I tried to do NaNoWriMo a few times. I have to confess something here: I do okay at writing essays, but when it comes to fiction, Im mostly rubbish. Its not that Im not good at story, but I dont have the ability to tell a story with characters. My characters come out flat and paper-thinand before you rush to the comments to tell me to practice more, which is the usual response to this when I tell people, its not a practice thing. Ive done a lot of writing. via GIPHY literally me Its more like being tone-deaf; its something in my brain that doesnt allow me to envision characters or flesh them out. To be honest, for someone who is a reader-for-pleasure, I actually have a hard time seeing characters in fiction Im reading, as well. I can tell you about their personalities for hours, but I couldnt tell you what they look like unless there are pictures. This presents a pretty significant handicap to me when trying to write people who arent real; without that extra dimension, theyre not as real to me. My character block makes writing fiction a chore for me because Im constantly stressing about it. So, I have never completed NaNoWriMo. In fact, I stopped trying a few years ago. Id much rather spend my time doing something creative that doesnt feel like a chore. Maybe you have a similar problem. Maybe you get terrible writers block. Maybe you find plotting impossible or run out of steam before you even hit 10,000 words. For whatever reason, you might be in the same boat as I am: NaNoWriMo is happening and you are not having a good time. You havent ever won NaNo despite your best attempts but you keep plugging away every year before fizzling out early for reasons. Im here to deliver you from NaNoWriMo frustration. You dont have to write that novel. Writing is one of the most romanticized arts, I think, because it really is something that it seems like everyone could do: if you know words and you have a way to record them, you can write. It requires almost no equipment and ideas are seemingly endless; I think a lot of creative people fall into the feeling that they should write a novel because its a mountain that is completely feasible to climb. We feel lazy for not climbing it because so many other people have. If I could just buckle down, we say, I could finish it and Ill feel really accomplished. Writing, though, requires a lot of concentration, creative energy, and time; these are more precious resources than we might imagine, and building them back up from depletion takes awhile. Its more than okay if we decide not to spend that energy on a novel this month, or ever, even if we feel like we should write one. After all, if you dont love it, actual mountain climbing kind of sucks: its cold, its a slog, its dangerous. I wouldnt spend my energy on climbing mountains if I didnt get any emotional satisfaction from it, and I wont climb proverbial mountains if they dont satisfy me, either. via GIPHY If I had to climb an actual mountain with no escalator? pffft So, its okay. You dont have to write that novel, even if you feel like you should. There are other challenges out there that will make you feel like you won the world when you finish; writing a novel just might not be one of them.

The United States Should Lower the Legal Drinking Age to...
The United Statesââ¬â¢ minimum legal drinking age (MLDA) of twenty one is almost a perfect example of a policy with unrealistic expectations and serious unintended consequences. The current policy that the United States has in effect criminalizes youth who consume alcohol at less than twenty one years of age. Young adults are going to drink under twenty one, so why shouldnââ¬â¢t the United States lower the MLDA to eighteen? Following Prohibition in 1933, many states made their MLDA twenty one. During the 1960ââ¬â¢s and 1970ââ¬â¢s, many states lowered it to eighteen to match the drafting age (Alcohol Policy MD). President Reagan passed The National Minimum Drinking Age Act of 1984 which required all states to raise their minimum purchase and publicâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦Others claim that the younger the MLDA is, the more likely young adults will irresponsibly drink by drinking and driving or binge drinking, which is for men having five or more alcoholic drinks in a row, and for women, it is four (Dying to Drink xiii). A person cannot possibily sway towards MLDA twenty one or MLDA eighteen without reason I can only stress that the current MLDA of twenty one should be lowered to eighteen years of age. First and foremost, the United Statesââ¬â¢ legal age of adulthood is eighteen. A young adult of eighteen may do many other activities, but cannot consume alcohol. Second, the subject of the ââ¬Å"Forbidden Fruitâ⬠comes into light over the subject. Lowering the current MLDA twenty one to eighteen would diminish the thrill of breaking the law to obtain or consume alcohol. Additionally, lowering MLDA twenty one to eighteen would reduce the number of underage people hurt from alcohol related injuries or accidents due to the fear of legal consequences if they sought medical attention. Finally, law enforcement is scarce when the subject of underage drinking comes to play. The United Statesââ¬â¢ legal age of adulthood is eighteen. US Imperialism in the Post-9/11 International Order Free Essays
The history of the world is hitherto marked by the antagonisms in the economic aspects of the society. Since the existence of hierarchical orders in societal relations in political and economic relations were conceptualized, the contradictions between and among the decisive forces in the production process have long been made brutal and more explosive than any other points in human history. Hence, the development of the capitalist mode of production and its dominance as the worldââ¬â¢s economic system gave way for the advancement of nation-states into imperialist powers of the modern world. We will write a custom essay sample on US Imperialism in the Post-9/11 International Order or any similar topic only for you Order Now Contradictions among the classes in the society, between the industrialized countries and industrialized versus the colonies and semi-colonies, only intensified the differences and irreconcilable economic interests of the nations. These contradictions gave way for most of the worldââ¬â¢s major catastrophic events like the First World War and the Second World War, being, in reality, war between imperialist and industrialized powers secure their insatiable interests for the control of the market. Such nature of class antagonisms reflected the exploitation and oppression that the motive forces experienced in the light of these economic restrictions in the present economic condition (Lenin 1916: IX). This essay would settle on the issues raised by the presence of the United Statesââ¬â¢ vast economic, political, and social sphere of influence on most regions of the world. As the worldââ¬â¢s only remaining superpower, the United States of America, maintains its structure in presenting and directing the course of global diplomatic, military and economic affairs. US imperialist expansion would be studied in order to come up with the particular nature of the hegemony and provide necessary clarifications on the nature of imperialism, super-imperialism and inter-imperialism and if ever these terms are applicable and politically relevant in todayââ¬â¢s discussion of global relations. After the terror attacks become the focus of regional diplomatic and military roadmaps, United States role in overseas affairs became even more directed towards armed resolution of conflict as essential appendage of its imperialist hegemony (Stivachtis, 2007). Marxist analysis of the society in general and political economy in particular could mainly present the foundations of this discourse by which we would draw the explanation for such concepts of imperialism and monopoly capitalist hegemony in the economic, political, cultural and other societal structures that are essentially intertwined with this. To Marxists, ââ¬Å"imperialismâ⬠is not simply the ââ¬Å"trend towards expansionâ⬠or the ââ¬Å"conquest of foreign lands,â⬠as it is defined by most political scientists and sociologists. The word is used in a much more precise sense to describe the general changes which occurred in the political, economic and social activity of the big bourgeoisie of the advanced capitalist countries, beginning in the last quarter of the 19th century. These changes were closely related to alterations in the basic structure of this bourgeoisie (Germain 1955). With this definition, there are still varied interpretations of imperialism even among Marxists. Vladimir Leninââ¬â¢s theoretical exposition on this subject has long been accepted widely after the Soviet Union molded a formidable economic and military superpower and directly/indirectly influenced the outcomes of revolutions in third world countries. The first and second world wars were the major eruption of these antagonisms and the world experienced an imperialist war over territories for the acquisition of raw materials for the industries and market for the surplus products of the capitalist western powers. A polarized global atmosphere boiled into wars that in reality, wars of expansion. The United States benefitted greatly from the war. It made the nation accumulate more neo-colonies after the defeat of the Axis powers in Europe and Asia. Hence, a conclusion can be derived from these events: the United States, after its economy faced a major crisis in the 1930ââ¬â¢s, needed war in order to boost its military industrial complex, obtain new territories as sources of industrial needs and market for overproduced goods, propel its strategic military positions overseas and contain the Soviet unionââ¬â¢s growing power and influence. Kautsky and Luxemburg, famous Marxists in Europe, clarified imperialism and presented yet another perspective on imperialist stage of the bourgeois capitalist system. Kautsky stated that imperialism is an absolute terminology to be applied to the interests of an industrial nation to expand its commercial realm by arguing that precisely an industrialized nation cannot sell all its products within industrialized nations so it has to look for nations with backward economies that do not have the technology and capacity to produce similar goods or products (Germain 1955). Cox stipulated the mechanics of how the United States was able to control foreign markets and flooded with surplus goods. He argued that the ââ¬ËEmpireââ¬â¢ dominated these backward or lagging economies through intimidation by use of the military, alliance with the local elite thus assuring an eliteââ¬â¢s government friendly, if not servile, to United Statesââ¬â¢ imperialist interests (Cox 2004: 309). The reality of the economic basis of imperialist hegemony has not really subsided at the turn of the 21st century and even after the Socialist block has collapsed in the 1990ââ¬â¢s. In fact, the same contradictions n the political economy of the world, however, significant alterations have pervaded since and the resulting events are what the current United Statesââ¬â¢ ruling class faces. Robert Cox noted the events which shaped the present international order as end products of centuries of societal evolutionary and revolutionary processes. First, he refreshed what French diplomacy baptized as ââ¬Ëhyper-powerââ¬â¢ of the United States of America due to the collapse of the Soviet Union and the disintegration of a bipolar world. Second, environmental concerns have taken the center stage of international affairs because of unstable conditions in the biosphere, biotechnology and genetically modified organisms. Along with these, there is the economic dilemma which suggests that capitalism continues to contain a tendency of widening the gap between the rich and the poor; ethnic, national, religious and other reason for polarization have been reaffirmed and; the emergence of ââ¬Ëirregularââ¬â¢ activities pertained to as terrorism and other organized crime. Hence, in the light of the authorityââ¬â¢s inaction regarding these concerns, the public developed skepticism towards established institutions (Cox 2004: 318). Further delving on this particular reasons for the establishment of a new international order, Cox asserted that with all these, there must be a ââ¬Ëpowerââ¬â¢ holding all these things completely so that this ââ¬Ëpowerââ¬â¢ could set forth the destruction or the genesis of an established reason. This ââ¬Ëpowerââ¬â¢ poses a dilemma as to what nature does this power hold that even Cox tried to provide an acceptable definition. Powerâ⬠¦ [Is] in a very general sense to mean whatever force can intentionally bring about change in the behavior of any of the diversity of agents in world political economy. States are obviously to be included among the agents. Military strength and the capacity for economic coercion are obviously to be included among the relevant forces. The problem is to infer from observation of what has happened what the key forces are and what agents are capable of wielding those forces (Cox 2004: 308). Current international scene is dominated by the United States but the economic and diplomatic influences are fast rescinding because of US hegemony in many aspects of world affairs. The US led war on terror and its coalition of the willing is a manifestation of an inherent crisis in a monopoly capitalist system. Military power now assumes the greatest role in preserving the existing order while its continued intervention in domestic and regional conflicts only isolates US hegemony from the collective of nations. This fragile condition of artificial harmony in a US controlled international scene radiated greater conflicts and majority of the nations initiated their independence from the economic influence of the US through the formation of a regional economic and political cooperation. The euro for example, attempted to present an alternative to the US dollar. Even if this attempt did not gain head on with the US dollar, its presence already showed that economic regionalism was developing into more stable formations and poses formidable challenge to US unilateralism (Cox 2004:314). The war on terror has unveiled the nature of US imperialism that it is an ââ¬ËEmpireââ¬â¢ that sought to expand its influence and domination wherever necessary and possible. Conflicts in the Middle East and the terror attacks in the US re-opened the debating floors to the concerns of terrorism and the ââ¬Ëdialecticââ¬â¢ relation of ââ¬Ëterrorismââ¬â¢ and ââ¬Ëwar on terrorââ¬â¢. As Robert Cox puts it: â⬠¦terrorism is a violent reaction to ââ¬ËEmpireââ¬â¢; and for dominant power the response to ââ¬Ëterrorismââ¬â¢ is an expansion of ââ¬ËEmpireââ¬â¢. The two are joined in dialectic without end since the two contestants are not of the same orderâ⬠¦ The physical elimination of ââ¬Ëterroristsââ¬â¢ by police and military action does not eliminate ââ¬Ëterrorismââ¬â¢. It encourages more people to take up the role of terrorist. The only way this quagmire dialectic could end would be by transcending the conflict in a reestablished legitimacy (Cox 2004: 318). Accumulating the economic, political, cultural and ideological crisis of the United Statesââ¬â¢ monopoly capitalist empire, various thinkers attempted to explain the nature of this ââ¬ËEmpireââ¬â¢. The most common of these terminologies used to refer to US imperial structure are ââ¬Ësuper-imperialismââ¬â¢, ââ¬Ëultra-imperialismââ¬â¢ and ââ¬Ëinter-imperialismââ¬â¢. Super-imperialism is more concerned with the mechanics of the economy and that evolution from classical imperialism to super-imperialism was caused by a reverse in the international scene where US surpassed its preeminent creditor status to a debtor status, hence, the worsening crisis of finance capital under the capitalist system. Ultra Imperialism is a term coined by Karl Kautsky as a theoretical conception of imperialism in the September 1914 issue of Die Neue Zeit. Kautsky articulated that capitalist could exist without wars and these industrialized nations need not to divide territories and markets rather form a cartel. Lenin quickly repudiated this assertion and stressed that ultra-imperialism understates the class antagonisms in an imperialist system and the contradictions were disregarded. Inter-imperialism on the other hand does not really offer a new conception of imperialism but only an earlier term used by Hobson to what Kautsky referred to as ultra-imperialism. In broadest sense, US imperialism maintains the exploitative conditions at present, the contradiction between and among industrial nations and between industrial nations and third world. Advertising Variety Essays
Advertising Variety Essays Advertising Variety Essay Advertising Variety Essay The production of goods without quick sale is to no purpose. We have different kind of advertisement to promote sales. Advertisement gives information about new products, about health and safety is called informative advertisement. The kind of advertisement that persuades peoples to buy thing is called persuasive advertisement. Persuasive advertisement is directed to consumers who do not need to buy products very much. However, through effective advertisement they are brought round to buy them. Then there is deceptive advertisement. Deceptive advertising makes peoples believe products or goods to better then they are. When persuasive advertising becomes deceptive, the results are often negative. We look at the innumerable posters, notices, small boards and hoardings, huge boards on the outside of buildings and banners for advertisement at road crossings and street corners or in busy public places. At night the advertisement are well lit, and they seems to add glamour to the areas around. However, the large hoardings or billboards with pictures and slogans only block the view of natural scenery and restrict pennes. Advertisement is something of a necessity in the modern world of competition and conflicts. Firstly, they introduce the new products to the general public; for example, the public comes to know readily of some new medicines for diseases, effective techniques of constructing houses through companies having specialized knowledge. The government advertises its schemes and policies to inform the public and to make it participate in them. It has advertised in the past its new housing plans, saving schemes, educational policies, issue of identity card etc. Mom off and on. Advertisement in newspapers for job in government departments and private organizations are highly useful. They help the offices and agencies to get readily trained manpower from the public. They help the educated public to get jobs and production centers through newspaper advertisements. The education private sector mostly depends on advertisement and publicity to attract students to educational institute. Advertising of cigarettes, undesirable dress, expensive food, harmful soft drink and the time wasting games should be discouraged. Cosmetic and items of make-up that cause waste of time and money and also negative effect on the health should not be put up at public places. Any advertisement that effect health and character negatively and helps develop bad habits should immediately be disallowed by the government. The advertisement who misinform the public about their products and services and about those of their competitors should be tried in court of law and punished. There should be strict law for this, which carefully and forcefully implemented. Advertisement should be developed as an art that pleases and inform the peoples rightly about the best products and services. It should be not misused for popularizing of defective or expensive industrial goods, expensive luxuries, foreign products and even publications that can be harm full to the people in any way. Having investigated this branch we can made next conclusion: advertisement has become our need. For launch new products we have to advertise that product. And then that product will start running if that product has some quality.

DATA ANALYSIS PORTFOLIO OF WORK - Working Party Forum Questionnaire Essay
DATA ANALYSIS PORTFOLIO OF WORK - Working Party Forum Questionnaire Canteen and Staff shop - Essay Example It is at this forum where members approve the report and dividend, scrutinize the budget and make suggestion on how to improve services offered by the canteen. As part of social welfare arrangement, the canteen strives to provide a cheap alternative feeding programme to employees on duty. However, profitability is a key requirement as it a collective investment. People engage in business ventures to make profit although it is not important that you realize profit yearly (Stephen 2011). To boost sales and increase profits, the committee proposed to members to allow it starts selling hot food and open a staff shop during a working party forum held on 23rd December, 2011. As a tradition, such new venture is subjected to research after which the members deliberate and acts on findings and recommendations of the report. To this end, the committee sought my services in conducting a survey on the proposal with core intention of finding out the opinion of workforce regarding the proposals. B esides, the study had the following objectives: To gauge the support for or against hot food and staff shop To determine appropriate time for serving hot food To determine the cost likely to be incurred by staff buying hot food To find out the preferred type of hot food and other categories To establish the time to open the shop and commodities to sell COLLECTION OF DATA The random sampling technique was used to select a representative population. In random sampling individuals are picked from study population based on chance (Leonard and Leonard 2009). This technique ensured that each employee has an equal chance of taking part in the survey and therefore not biased. The sample was deemed to be a true representative of the population because in this method the process of coming up with a sample was based on probability and not predetermined. The employees were assigned numbers 1 to 510 according to the way the names appear in the payroll. The numbers were keyed in online sampling s oftware called randomizer (randomizer.org), which generated 142 unique numbers. The numbers were matched with payroll numbers to select employees who represented the other workers in the survey. The following numbers were generated by randomizer: 290, 133, 42, 201, 181, 175, 369, 431, 39, 239, 445, 2, 150, 296, 67, 8, 6, 387, 308, 167, 25, 90, 444, 408, 266, 203, 208, 292, 1, 122, 97, 284, 101, 477, 34, 92, 93, 85, 155, 457, 193, 301, 306, 396, 79, 191, 270, 246, 38, 162, 134, 354, 96, 437, 390, 264, 281, 27, 447, 209, 169, 412, 501, 194, 312, 21, 280, 195, 158, 176, 83, 46, 33, 388, 438, 410, 110, 368, 321, 50, 329, 365, 115, 434, 339, 318, 479, 17, 88, 508, 229, 61, 361, 440, 95, 156, 343, 311, 424, 382, 331, 421, 327, 124, 154, 373, 453, 187, 330, 493, 397, 200, 293, 372, 336, 119, 126, 407, 159, 47, 143, 87, 254, 89, 4, 459, 64, 15, 358, 392, 252, 225, 65, 400, 352, 462, 433, 500, 232, 30, 40, 230. The employees corresponding to a selected number were given questionnaire to fill and then return it to Forum Representative within 7 days. Out of 142 questionnaires issued, 123 were returned to the committee. As the researcher, I scrutinized the filled questionnaires and accepted 114 to be used for analytical purpose. This number translates to 22.4% response rate corresponding to 8.1% error margin at 95% confidence level. GP clarified her that at times even emotions causes difficulties in medical problems Clients problems and Diagnosis: Nasrin went to consultant and told her problems. She explained that she has severe low backache and her pain is presently radiating both legs. Pain is very sharp and brought herself to tears. Pain occurs every day at different time intervals. She has lack of motivation and interest. She didnt sleep properly in night. She felt insulted when GP told her that these are only the signs of anxiety and tell her to see a psychologist. She avoids to meet anyone and seen herself failure and weak. By studying the whole case the case is diagnosed with the help of DSM IV checklist and it is diagnosed as a case of pain disorder associated with psychological factors. The client has following features: Her main problem was significant pain from long time. There are many psychological factors which play main role in the beginning, severity, exacerbation or preservation of pain. As pain felt everyday at different times and intervals. Pain is very sharp that brings Nasrin to tears. The symptoms are not purposely produced by the patient. Background: Patient Nasrin is the youngest one in her family. Since puberty she has not good health. She was having severe recurrent headaches but those headaches were not diagnosed as the attacks of migraine. When she was twelve years old her grandmother died. She was suffered with the symptoms of after stroke for four years before her death. After the death of her grandmother her mom showed sympathy towards her and whenever she felt those headaches she told her lie down. Her mother gave cold compression to her head. Mostly she felt chest pain during the stress period of exams. She got married at the age of twenty one and she left her study because of her severe headaches. She always tried to become an ideal companion. Her husband Alfred was also caring but due to her continuous appointments with doctors and their expenses he started criticizing her. Her husband left her after two years of her marriage. She was heartbroken at that time then she started work for supporting herself but soon she l ost her job due to her health problems. Because of her continuous visits to doctors she was absent from work many times and this was the reason for her job lost. After that she joined her parents and moved to their house. Case formulation: For formulating the case, first of all the consultant assesses and socializes into cognitive therapy. CBT is the therapy of choice in various mental health problems. CBT promote patient to talk about himself in a way that how the patient think about himself, the surrounding world and the other persons surrounding him. What are the things affects patients thoughts and feelings. By knowing all these things CBT helps in patients thinking (Cognitive) and what he do (behaviour) and this can help patient to feel better regarding his life. After that assessed the detailed description of the problem of client and in this case it is recurrent lower abdominal pain. Assess the predisposing factors and in Nasrin case these are recurrent headache and chest pain during stress like in exams etc. The precipitating factors were her grandmothers death and separation from her husband soon after her marriage and the maintaining factor is long term complaint of lower abdomen pain. Then ABC analysis of pr oblem was done by the consultant. Diagnose historical context of the problem, its assumptions and core beliefs. After that constructed a treatment and management plan .Afterwards socializing the client towards the self task. When client came to consultant initially in first session he/she should tell the client about the confidentially of their conversation for gaining faith of client, tells the cognitive therapy and regarding the estimated time of the therapy. CBT sessions are depends upon the patients problems and objectives. Generally with CBT results are better realized when sessions are between 6-20 and varies from 40 minutes to one hour each session. Every session is generally has a gap of one week or fifteen days. CBT cannot remove the patients problems but it can help to handle them in an optimistic way. Therapist helps patient to find ways by changing your thoughts and behaviour so that the patient cope with the problems in better way. (Sheldon, 2011). Consultant assesses the details of the problem as in this case Nasrin has a problem of severe lower abdomen pain. She suffers from this pain from a long time. She has heavy menstrual bleeding and severe lower abdominal pain. Her gynecologist was n ot agreeing to do surgery for this pain but Nasrins frequent visits and continuous pain problem agreed her to do surgery. Because of this continuous and sharp pain she influenced her surgeon and had hysterectomy in her young age. After six months of her surgery she felt no improvement in her pain. She visited to many specialists for finding the cause of her pain problem. But nothing was found by any specialist. Recently she felt chest pain and thought that she was having heart attack. But physician told her she is normal and this all was because of anxiety. She felt insulted with this comment. At last her GP influenced her to consult a clinical psychologist and clarify her that at times emotions made worse to medical problems. GP explained her that psychological assessments will better treat her condition. ABC analysis of Nasrin case: In this case A- activating events are the hysterectomy of client which was done at young age. Nasrin is separated from her husband and stay with her parents. B-Her rational thoughts and beliefs are that she is having severe pain in her lower abdomen. She also felt chest pain. She thoughts that she is pathetic for being like this .C- Consequences regarding the emotions she is nervous, irritated, shame and hurt also. In her behaviour she is always sad, there were crying episodes as sometimes the pain bring her to tears and she feels isolated also. After assessing Nasrin problem consultant gave her a questionnaire to do at her home .It is a questionnaire based on Hamilton anxiety rating scale (HAM-A). The main reason for giving this questionnaire to know the severity of symptoms of anxiety in patient. This scale contains 14 items and each of these items distinct by a number of symptoms. This scale calculates both psychic and somatic anxiety. Each item is scaled on 0-4 in which 0 means not present and 4 means severe. Total score range is 0-56 and if a person scores less than 17 it shows less severity and 18-24 means mild to moderate severity 25-30 means moderate to severe symptoms of anxiety ( Guy,1976,Hamilton, 1959). In her next visit Nasrin has to bring that filled questionnaire and consultant assessed those answers. In the next session consultant go through that filled questionnaire and identifies and clarified Nasrin problems by DSM IV checklist. The DSM (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders) is the usual classification regarding mental disorders and is used by mental health professionals in America. This has five axis in which Axis I covers clinical disorders, Axis II includes personality disorders and mental retardation. Axis III includes general medical conditions, Axis IV psychosocial and environmental conditions and Axis IV global assessment of functioning scale (American psychiatric association, 2000). Consultant assesses and found that she has a problem of pain disorder associated with psychological factors. Consultant took a detailed historical background in this visit. When consultant asked Nasrin about her background she told him that she was the youngest in her brother sisters. She has poor health since teenage. She has recurrent headaches from puberty but those head aches were not fit into migraine attacks and her grandmother died when she was 12 and her mother shows sympathy towards her after her grandmothers death. She has chest pain during stress. She was married when she was only 21 years old and left her university study because of her severe headache problem. Her husband left her after two years of her marriage. The reason for her separation was the high expenses due to frequent visits to doctors for her complaint of lower abdomen pain. After her separation she started work as personal assistant for supporting her. She lost her job soon because of continuous absent from her job due to her health problems. After that she shifted to her parents place and stay with them. Consultant listen all the background and gave Nasrin a homework task to maintain a daily pain dairy. In which she has to write at what time she has the pain as the pain starts in morning, afternoon or evening. Where is the pain in the scale of 0-10, in which 0 means no pain, 5 means moderate pain and 10 means worst possible pain. She has to write in dairy that what she was doing when the pain started. Did she take any medicine and what was the dose of that medicine? What were the other treatments she used? After one hour what the pain rate was in the rating scale like is it relived or gone worse. What are the other problems she faces? She has to maintain this daily pain dairy (AGS Foundation for Health in Aging, 2006) for one week till her next visit and bring it with her in her next visit. In her next visit the consultant gone through her daily pain dairy and identify her problem. Consultant done a counseling session about her hobbies and her likes and dislikes with her and in that conversation she told that she was previously used to write a personal dairy daily. But due to her health problems she didnt do this now. By knowing this entire, consultant asked her that why not she again start writing a book on her life and choose this as a smart goal for her. But she said that she is not able to do all this because of her health problems then consultant told her to just give this a try. In smart goal it is specific for Nasrin to write a book on her life story. This is measureable as the book will have 150 pages and her progress would be measured monthly. It will be an attainable goal as if she complete twelve and half pages in a month then she would have 150 pages by the deadline. This smart goal is realistic also as at times it will be difficult for Nasrin to get her tho ughts on paper, so she give herself enough time to complete her book. For time she has to finish this book in twelve months that means twelve and half pages in a month and150 pages in a year. So consultant advised her to work on this smart goal and she agreed on that. Generating Solution: For Nasrin consultant planned cognitive behaviour therapy for 6-12 weeks in which she has to continue her pharmacotherapy that means she has to continue her drugs prescribed by physician. She is advised for relaxation therapy and supportive psychotherapy for her anxiety problem. For relaxation therapy she has to do some relaxation techniques which helps in reducing tension of muscles and improving patients in general feeling of wellness and minimizes anxiety. Deep relaxation for 20-30 minutes reduces general anxiety, reduces the incidence and harshness of panic attacks. These techniques also good for sleeplessness and fatigue. It also increases self confidence and reduces the symptom of self blame (Bourne, 1995). In supportive psychotherapy, patient has to be supported for coping with stressors by many actions like carefully paying attention and cheering expressions regarding thoughts and feelings. Supporting the patient to understand the situation and its alternatives and trying to give a hope to patient (Douglas, 2008). Ã She has advised for some physiotherapy to support and tone up her lower abdominal muscles and keeps her body fit. Consultant advised Nasrin some preferred solutions for her problem. She has advised to do early morning yoga for half an hour. Then after her breakfast she is advised to visit local library for reading books on biographies. And coming back to home relax for some time and do some household works and after lunch go out for shopping and start socialising with friends and neighbours. In the evening watch tele with her parents. After dinner chat for some time with parents. Before going to bed while listening music try to write her biography. She has to follow the same till her next visit. After all these visits Nasrin is quiet satisfied and relaxed. Her episodes of pain are reducing day by day.

Relationships in The Storm, The Yellow Wallpaper and Young Goodman Brow
à Because writing is inherently romantic in nature, throughout the history of literature, we see many authors' insights into the enigmatic and often ambiguous subject of love and relationships. Three short stories penned by three separate American writers deal with such matter: Charlotte Perkins Gillman in "The Yellow Wallpaper", Kate Chopin in "The Storm", and Nathaniel Hawthorne in "Young Goodman Brown." Though the relationships presented in each of these stories are unique in their own persuasion, the same underlying theme runs true in all. At first glance all of these relationships may appear healthy in their existence; however, further introspection uncovers specific maladies which I believe elicit much of the discord which arises within each of these writings. All of the husbands in the aforementioned short stories evoke, though some more subtly than others, varying degrees of conflict. Gillman's "The Yellow Wallpaper" is a story pertaining to, and narrated by, a women suffering from depression after the recent birth of a child. Although the name of the women in the story is never revealed, many believe this is short story is an excerpt from the author's life. Much of the setting of the story takes place in an aging mansion recently inhabited by the narrator and John, the narrator's husband. Due to her affliction and under strict instruction of her husband John, who is also a physician, the narrator is sentenced to bed rest in one of the upper rooms of the house. The walls of the room in which the narrator is forced to occupy, are enveloped with decrepit yellow wallpaper displaying an irksome pattern which, coupled with the ennui of doing nothing, works in a maleficent manner on the mental sanctity of the narrator. The ... ...horne suggests in his writing that Brown fell victim to the latter. "Often, awakening suddenly at midnight,", Hawthorne says of Goodman Brown, "he shrank from the bosom of Faith; and at morning or eventide, when the family knelt down at prayer, he scowled and muttered to himself, and gazed sternly at his wife, and turned a Many, I am sure, could interpret or acquisition other sources of conflict for each of the three given stories, as could I. However, I have shown that the ultimate inception of discord must be attributed to the husbands in these stories. Though with varying degrees of distinctness, John's inability to truly understand his wife's needs in "The Yellow Wallpaper", Bobinot's apathy towards Calixta in "The Storm", and Brown's want of faith in "Young Goodman Brown", each act as the kindling used to incite the flame of conflict within these writings. How does Steinbeck present loneliness in ââ¬Ëof mice and menââ¬â¢? Essay
How does Steinbeck present loneliness in ââ¬Ëof mice and menââ¬â¢? During the Great Depression in the 1930s in the USA many migrant workers went to California in search of work. In the novel ââ¬Å"Of Mice and Menâ⬠John Steinbeck deals with the loneliness which affected these characters. One of the main symbols of this, is the setting of the novel is in Soledad, which translated from Spanish means solitude. Steinbeck point to the cause of loneliness being from discrimination, and the loneliest person on the working ranch would likely be the black stable buck ââ¬Å"Crooksâ⬠, this is proved by his actions and his attempts to make friends. You first understand him when he expresses his loneliness to Lennie, ââ¬Å"a guy goes nuts if he ainââ¬â¢t got nobody. Donââ¬â¢t make no difference who the guy is, longââ¬â¢s heââ¬â¢s with you. I tell ya a guy gets too lonely anââ¬â¢ he gets sickâ⬠. (page 82) This indicates he has become mentally ill due to his extreme loneliness in his room. As an African American he is not allowed into the bunk house or to play cards with the white ranchers. Crooks tells Lennie it is ââ¬Å"Cause Iââ¬â¢m black. They play cards in there, but I canââ¬â¢t play because Iââ¬â¢m black. They say I stink. Well I tell you, you all of you stink to me.â⬠(page 77) This shows that he longs to join them in playing cards and feels bitter and angry that he canââ¬â¢t. This was a very racist time in America. Crooks was the only black person on the ranch and there was only one other black family in the area. As Crooks says ââ¬Å"If I say something it is just a nigger sayinââ¬â¢ it.â⬠(page 80) Crooks at first turns Lennie away from his room saying ââ¬Å"you got no right to come in my room.â⬠(page 77) but due to Lennieââ¬â¢s ââ¬Ëdisarming smileââ¬â¢ (page 77) he gives in and invites him in. When Crooks realises about the dream of the farm he wants to be part of it, offering to work for nothing. ââ¬Å"If youâ⬠¦guys would want a hand to work for nothing ââ¬â just his keep, why Iââ¬â¢d come anââ¬â¢ lend a hand. I ainââ¬â¢t so crippled I canââ¬â¢t work like a son-of-a-bitch if I want to.â⬠(page 86) This shows how desperate Crooks is to overcome his loneliness and be part of something. However, this dream is stopped by Curleyââ¬â¢s wife who threatens to accuse of him of rape so that he will be hung. She reminds him that everyone will believe her saying ââ¬Å"Well, you keep your place then, Nigger. I could get you strung up on a tree so easy it ainââ¬â¢t even funny.â⬠(page 91) This makes Crooks remember that he is not able to be anything else and that the dream is futile. He returns to being angry and bitter. Steinbeck does not offer any solution to Crooks loneliness. He simply gives an observation on life and how lonely it can be for some people. He shows how racism can cause loneliness and isolation and this can cause people to be very bitter and angry. Ã

Music Masterpiece by Kings Singers and History of Music by String Essay
Essays on Music Masterpiece by King's Singers and History of Music by String Fever Essay The paper "Music Masterpiece by King's Singers and History of Music by String Fever" is a good example of an essay on music. The Kingââ¬â¢s Singers is a very entertaining acapella group with a wonderful talent for creating a humorous bend on a topic. In this instance, they used the history of music as a theme, recreating styles reminiscent of chronological eras of music with the lyrics being very straight forward without description but rather most often the name of the composer who exemplified the period. The audience was very amused with the use of Beethovenââ¬â¢s name as the music itself was intense and was punctuated by the use of it in interesting uses of the dark themes that can be found in his work. One of the more interesting moments was when the music fell to the Claude Debussy tribute. The tones were amazingly docile with the dissonant harmonies melodiously resonating with the beauty of Debussyââ¬â¢s work. Of course, it could not stay too serious as one of the grou p broke away to sing along, as the others stood by embarrassed, a bit of Wagner. String Fever and their creation of The History of Music was amusing as well but did not quite match the brilliance of the singers. The beauty of the music was clear, but the humor did not translate quite as quickly. The electric cellist was compelling, especially when he fell into a pizzicato during the theme to 2010, which then transitioned beautifully into the next piece. A little bit of Scott Joplin was a joy to here, then soon music from the Sound of Music could be heard, along with some Cole Porter. The History of Music couldnââ¬â¢t be complete without a little Elvis and the Beatles. My favorite was the of course when Another Bites the Dust could be heard. However, Michael Jacksonââ¬â¢s Billy Jean was a lot of fun to hear as well as the Theme from Psycho. All in all, the music from both groups was compelling and held the amused interest of the listener. I found the singers to have stronger performance, although the string quartet was quite amazing as well. This type of pl ayfulness is a wonderful way to experience music.

We would value feedback on which materials you like best and which materials you liked least. Word limit: 1,000 words Answer Week 3: Corporate Strategy Key Ideas: The main idea of the corporate strategy is that, it is developed and framed by the top management however to achieve the desired organizational goal it requires a cumulative participation from all the levels within the organization. According to Badgayan (2011) everyone within the organization has an important role to play. However, the thinking process should be logical and strategically viable for that organizations mode of business. The main reason behind having a logical and strategic thinking is that this thinking process will help the company to grow in future. The other idea that can be derived on the corporate strategy is that the nature of the corporate strategy is the summation of the three distinctive issues. Those issues are: Directional: What direction the organization should focus on? Portfolio: Which portfolio will help the organization to grow its business? ZEN Energy Systems: What business the organization to own to beat its competitors and what organizational structure and philosophy it should follow to gain superior performance? (Harvard Business Review, 1995) However, other than these the other idea that can be drawn is that a corporate strategy is a combination of four generic strategies. These four generic strategies are: Growth Strategy: To provide the planned growth aspect to the organization. Stability Strategy: To develop a win-win strategy that will provide stability to the organization. Retrenchment Strategy: To focus on one or two SBUs to gain the financial stability within the organization. Mixed strategy: To develop a strategic portfolio that will provide growth and stability to the organization (Harrison and St. John, 2014). Idenificationof Best fit Organization: The Atlassian is one of the fastest growing software companies in Australia (Schroeder, 2014). The main motto of the company is to deliver the jobs on time. Therefore, to achieve this they have implemented the virtual strategy that will allow the employees to work on virtual platform in their flexible time. This flexibility of time has helped the company to grow faster rate and it is providing the employee and the financial stability within the organization (Atlassian.com, 2014). Week 4: Good Strategy Key Ideas: The main idea about a good strategy is that a good strategy focuses on the multiple resources for the accomplishment of a single objective. However, over the period it has been seen that companies did the wrong thing through concentration in the complexity of the strategy. The issues that has been found that though the concept of the good strategy is very simple but it has hindrances within it. According to Rumelt (2008)the major hindrances are: Identification of the Best fit organization: The ZEN energy system is one of the renowned manufacturer and service provider for the solar power. The company has decided to run their business through the solar power solutions. According to Zenenergy.com.au (2014) while analyzing the options on the renewable energy it has experienced that the solar energy will be most sustainable option for the long run. Moreover, it will help them to get the advantage from the government on different issue and this government help will help the company to provide affordable solutions to its customers. However, developing solutions only trusting upon the government help and schemes could turn out to be a wrong decision in future though it is doing quite fine in the current scenario. Therefore, it is very necessary for the company to develop an alternative affordable solution plan without relying on the future government favorability (Harrison and St. John, 2014). Week 5: Boundaries Key Ideas: The main idea about the strategy is to enabling a company to perform better than its competitors though keeping the alignment within the market opportunity, resources and the implementation planning. However, the main thing what the strategy does is to define a specific boundary for the company to guide itself about what it does best and what it should not do (Kryscynski, 2012). On the other hand, the other key idea that can be drawn is that the nature of the strategic boundary is actually to restrict the company from doing what it does not do the best but in helping to do what it does better than the other competitors do (Kryscynski, 2012). The key point is that the formulation of a strategy involves a diagnostic analysis of the following elements: Identification of the Best fit organization: The time telecom is a Melbourne based Telecom Company. This company provided alternative telecommunication solutions to the residential customers (Ltd, 2015). The main reason for concentration on the residential customers is that the company knows that the infrastructure it has that cannot satisfy the large industrial customers. Therefore, it has concentrated highly on the residential customers because it knows its infrastructural boundaries. Currently company has started moving into the small and medium scale industries as because the company has achieved stability within itself through satisfying the residential customers. The expansion plan was only done when the company sensed that the portfolio of the organization and the existing capacity and the capability of the organization could provide adequate service to the newly identified sectors (Schroeder, 2014). National Nightmare free essay sample
Going into high school, I was lost. I was hurting myself, losing weight at a rapid speed, and didnââ¬â¢t want to be around anymore. I felt like there was no one for me to turn to, and all I heard from my therapist was: Depression, Anxiety, Eating Disorder, Suicidal. The one thing that distracted me from my anxiety was when I would pass by the cheerleading team. Watching those girls compete and work at those skills was everything I wanted. Joining the team could be the first step to pulling myself up, and starting fresh. Friends and family questioned if I really wanted to be around those girls. The answer was yes. I wanted to better myself and to accomplish what they had been working on for years. I knew the challenges that trying out for the team would present. I was shy and inexperienced, and they had been working for years to represent our school in the best possible light. We will write a custom essay sample on National Nightmare or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page I pushed myself try out, and I showed up every week to show them that I could do this, that I wasnââ¬â¢t afraid to fail anymore. I needed this to save me from myself. Night and day I stood in front of the mirror, working on my jumps and facials. I looked into my eyes and saw myself reborn from my sadness. I had a better mindset, I had more confidence in myself, and I was ready to go and fight for my team. We worked hard and were able to make it to Nationals in Florida. The only problem: the dreaded anxiety attack was back. Colors around me started to blend into one orb, until I was almost completely covered in darkness. The only light seeping in was the hot reds and ambers of the stage lights, and the glow of faces in front of me. My chest moved furiously back and forth, my breath refused to live in my lungs, and my body couldnââ¬â¢t stop trembling. The world seemed to be slipping out of my fingertips, and there was nothing I could do. Everything around me was slipping away. All I had worked for seemed to be evaporating into the air in seconds. Then, a hand was on my shoulder. ââ¬Å"Just breathe. Youââ¬â¢re going to be okay.â⬠Everyone started to share with me how cheerleading has helped them get over their anxiety. Many shared inspiring words of how amazing they thought I was to come with no experience and to work hard. This memory will always be my favorite one from high school, and we werenââ¬â¢t even performing. It was one group of people who shared their love and self improvement with one another, and to be proud of the goals accomplished as one. To see how much I have grown from my past and to see how much other people have seen me grow is something I will always want to continue to share in this world. Cheerleading has opened my eyes to show that there are always people who care about you. There will always be someone to support you through your worst times. I now have the strength to focus on myself and realize itââ¬â¢s not selfish. It not only benefits me, but the people around me. Iââ¬â¢m proud to say that I am happier, healthier, and learning how to love myself. Now, I try my best to talk to someone first because I know it will only help in the end. To this day, I still have the loving words written to me on my nightstand.

The main acquisition challenge associated with the industry 3D Systems Corporation competes in is integration of cost-effective solutions and introduction of savings in production and services. The two main competitors of 3D Systems are HP and Stratasys. Currently, the experts agree that even though the whole 3D printing industry experienced a massive growth of revenues over the years between 2010 and 2014, and 3D Systems benefited the most, the future seems to be more favorable for S tratasys (Stoffel, 2015). There are several bases for such conclusion. First of all, Stratasys employs a clever approach to acquisitions, it recently merged with Objet and Makerbot, and joined forces are definitely going to make the corporation stronger in the long run. Besides, the company has accumulated what can be viewed as a war chest of funds, which can be spent on a powerful marketing campaign or as resources to attract better specialists in the industry and strengthen the business even more. Finally, Stratasys has the largest number of 3D printers installed in the world which means that in the future this company will gain the largest income selling proprietary 3D printing materials (Stoffel, 2015). At 3D Systems it is believed that the best way to become successful in the industry that has so many applications a designer has to be able to offer a wide range of technologies for all kinds of consumers (Heller, 2014). Overall, HP is a very serious competitor that should not be underestimated as it has a large budget and an impressive team of developers who are empowered by decades of work with 2D printing. 3D Systems is aware of the potential threats posed by its main competitors Stratasys and HP and still has several years before their innovation and design strate gies will hit the market. 3D printing is one of the worldââ¬â¢s most successful markets because it is applicable and extremely useful for a number of fields among which there are aerospace, automotive, health and medicine, and a variety of electronic and fashion accessories. How to Teach Reported Speech to Students
How to Teach Reported Speech to Students Teaching students reported or indirect speech can be complicated by the all the changes that are required when moving from direct speech into reported speech. First off, students should understand that reported speech is quite useful in conversational English as relating what someone has said using quote and unquote is awkward at best. A further aspect of reported speech is encouraging students to use other reporting verbs beyond say and tell. Introducing the Concept to Students Start with Tenses Start with simple examples in which changes are only made in tense. For example: Write on the Board: Direct Speech Tom said, I enjoy watching action movies.becomes Indirect Speech Tom said he enjoyed watching action movies. Direct Speech Anna told me, I went to the shopping mall.becomes Indirect Speech Anna told me she had gone to the shopping mall. Move on to Pronouns and Time Expressions Once students have understood the basic concept of stepping one step back into the past when reporting in the past, they can easily begin to make the minor changes in pronoun and time expression usage. For example: Write on the Board: Direct Speech The teacher said, Were working on the present continuous today.becomes Indirect Speech The teacher said we were working on the present continuous that day. Direct Speech Anna told me, My brother Tom has been to Paris twice this year.becomes Indirect Speech Anna told me her brother Tom had been to Paris twice that year. Practice Provide students with a chart of the principal changes in reported speech (i.e. will - would, present perfect - past perfect, etc.). Ask students to practice the reported speech by beginning with a reported speech worksheetà or by asking them to change sentences from direct to reported speech. Once students have become comfortable with direct to indirect speech transformations, practice reporting through the use of interviews as in this reported speech lesson plan.As students become familiar with the reported speech, introduce a wider range of reporting verbs to help students move post say and tell. Advanced Issues Once the basics have been understood, there are a few more advanced issues to discuss. Here is a quick outline of some of the more problematic aspects of the reported speech that students might find confusing. Reporting Tense: Says instead of Said - Sometimes, in the moment of speaking a speaker may use the present tense to report what has been said. In this case, there is no change in the tense. However, changes in pronouns apply. For example:Teacher: Were going to work on the reported speech. Please turn to page 121 in your book.Student 1: I cant understand. What are we supposed to do?Student 2: The teacher says we are going to work on the reported speech on page 121.Tom: I think this is a great idea!Peter: Andy, I didnt understand.Andy: Tom tells us he thinks its a good idea.Other Reporting Verbs: Advise / Instruct / Etc. Infinitive of Purpose - A number of reporting verbs use the infinitive of purpose to express the idea, rather than using a transition of the tense. For example:Teacher: Were going to work on the reported speech. Please turn to page 121 in your book.Student 1: I cant understand. What are we supposed to do?Student 2: The teacher instructed us to work on reported speech and turn to page 121.Teacher: I think you should hurry up and finish the activity.Student 1: I didnt understand.Student 2: The teacher advised us to hurry up and finish the activity.
